HappySlip....This Woman Is Hilarious!

In my last post I mentioned youtube and keeping our house cool in the summer. Speaking of these things brought to mind my newest favorite comedianne, HappySlip! She is a funny!

I love watching her because I can relate to her so well. She jokes about real life stuff that so applies to me sometimes. This is in part because she is female and because she is Filipino-American. I'm not Filipino, rather I'm Mexican American. Still she makes me think of my own childhood and family. I'd love to do my own monologue on some of the race or culturally related comedic situations I have experienced.

For instance my uncle called me an "Oreo" once. He said that I am brown on the outside and white on the inside. So watching Happy Slip made me think about that. When I was a kid this kinda bugged me. But now I figure it'd be funny to do a video discussing things in my life that are examples of me being an "Oreo."

Like when I recently went with a group of my "white" girlfriends to learn how to make tortillas. My mom got all upset and said I should be teaching them how to make tortillas. I told her that if she had taught me how then I would have been able to do so! The Mexican in me came out though when we were rolling out the tortillas. I had an easier time getting my tortillas round than my friends did.... 'cause I'm an "Oreo!"

Comedy... could I pull it off? I wonder....

Here's a video that we can totally relate to since we moved to the country into our old drafty farm house.
